Detox for X (“the extension”) restyles and filters the X (formerly Twitter) website inside your own browser. Its privacy story is simple: it is built to keep everything local.

What the extension does with data

It does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
It has no servers and no analytics. No usage data, browsing history, or page content is ever sent anywhere by the extension.
All processing — decluttering, hiding media/ads, theming, and filtering posts by the topics you choose — happens entirely on your device.

What is stored, and where

The extension saves your settings only — the on/off toggles, your chosen filter topics and keywords, and your remembered focus selection — using Chrome’s storage.sync API. This keeps the settings in your browser and, if you are signed into Chrome, syncs them across your own Chrome browsers through Google’s account sync (governed by Google’s privacy policy). The extension never reads this data off any server.

Network requests

The extension makes no network requests of its own. To make a heavily-filtered feed load smoothly, it may briefly pause and then resume X’s own timeline requests inside your browser — it never inspects, stores, or forwards the contents of those requests.

Permissions

storage — to save your settings, as described above.
Host access to x.com and twitter.com — so the extension can restyle and filter those pages. It runs on no other websites.

Children’s privacy

The extension collects no data from anyone, including children.

If this policy changes, the “Last updated” date above will change accordingly.
